Spotlight on Konstantina: Challenging ideas
Meet Konstantina. Hailing from Larissa, Greece, she’s Operations Manager for BayWa r.e. solar plants located across the Netherlands and beyond. It’s up to her to analyze detailed reporting and uncover new ways to make sure our projects continue to be the most efficient on Earth.
She holds master’s degrees in catalysis and environmental protection, and environmental protection and sustainable development, so her opinion is highly sought after by colleagues. With a love of respectful debate, Konstantina is putting her natural academic curiosity to good use securing a greener tomorrow for future generations.
Konstantina is Defending our Planet
Joining us in late 2019, this superstar Operations Manager has always had a drive to work on behalf of our planet. Helping local businesses report on their environmental protection and sustainability projects as a freelancer helped develop a keen eye for what it takes to make these projects succeed.
Konstantina dreamed of becoming a doctor when she was a kid. Now, she’s diagnosing problems and prescribing solutions for some of the Benelux region’s biggest clean energy projects. Seeing facilities that she’s helped manage being used to effect change in the real world is a massive inspiration. It’s part of the reason why she’s such a vocal advocate for the renewables sector.
She also backs up her stance with action in her own life. From eating seasonal local produce wherever possible, to downsizing and rethinking unnecessary travel, she’s taking steps to reduce her own CO2 footprint.
Always looking to learn and challenge herself, Konstantina has found herself working with some truly world-leading technology. Floating-PV and Agri-PV projects present very different challenges to traditional solar plants. Thankfully, she counts herself lucky enough to rely on her versatile, talented team of colleagues.
Taking energy from natural sources; solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, tidal, it’s helping tackle the world’s most pressing problems. It’s not only leading to healthier and more sustainable lives; it’s also creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs within the green economy. People are realizing how affordable and accessible it is to go green, right across the globe.

Konstantina is Embracing Diversity
With her early career being so closely linked to her studies, Konstantina is well used to collaborating and absorbing new ideas. The explosion of interest in renewables has transformed her field into one of the liveliest academic circles in the world. Have no fear, she’s more than capable of holding her own when the opinions start flying.
To Konstantina, robust discussion is an integral part of teamwork. The confidence to challenge ideas and make sure we’re collectively heading in the right direction is a sign of a healthy working relationship. She’s all about celebrating difference and giving diverse viewpoints the respect they deserve.
Without this vibrant, respectful atmosphere, Konstantina’s job wouldn’t be what it is today. Working with unprecedented technology in new settings means there always has to be that spark of creative thinking in the air. It’s what keeps her energized and engaged, whenever she’s not reading, travelling, or perfecting her tennis strokes.
Konstantina’s positivity and optimism are helping bring about some big changes. Every single day, she’s making choices based on how they impact the world around her, inspired by her favorite quote from Mother Teresa: “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."
Diversity for me means creating a safe, positive environment to celebrate what makes us unique. It’s as much about the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. We’ve got to know how to relate to qualities which don’t come naturally to us and acknowledge that these differences can be fluid.
