CEO

Matthias Taft was born in Munich in 1967. From 1988 to 1993, he studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. In addition, he studied industrial engineering at the University of Hagen from 1997 to 2001.
In 2003, Matthias took over the management of RENERCO Renewable Energy Concepts AG and since 2013 has been responsible for the management of BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH. In addition, Matthias was responsible for the Renewable and Conventional Energy divisions as a member of the Board of Management of BayWa AG from 2015 to 2021.
Since 2021, he has been CEO of BayWa r.e. AG.

COO

Günter Haug was born in Metzingen in 1967. He graduated with a degree in communication engineering from the University of Applied Science in Esslingen in 1992. He started his career as an engineer for a PV installation company.
During his time with the company, he gained deep insights into both the installation and sale of PV plants. In 1996, he joined MHH Solartechnik GmbH as a photovoltaic sales engineer. In 2000, he became managing director of the company and, starting with just five employees, transformed it into a successful international company with 150 employees.
In 2010, the MHH Solartechnik GmbH was acquired by BayWa AG. Today, Günter is Chief Operating Officer at BayWa r.e. AG. His responsibilities cover the company’s solar trade, energy solutions and energy trading activities in addition to the IT, digital projects, organisation & change, and marketing & communications departments.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board

Prof. Klaus Josef Lutz has been Chief Executive Officer of BayWa AG since July 2008. In addition, he is a member of the supervisory boards of numerous global companies, including T&G Global Limited, New Zealand (Chairman), Giesecke+Devrient GmbH, Germany (Chairman), Euro Pool System International, Rijswijk/Netherlands (Chairman), WHG mbH, Klagenfurt/Austria (Chairman) and RWA AG, Vienna/ Austria (Member of the Supervisory Board).
Before joining BayWa AG, he was General Manager at Süddeutscher Verlag GmbH. Prior to that, he held various other management positions in different sectors which enabled him to gain extensive experience, above all in the restructuring and development of companies.
Prof. Klaus Josef Lutz holds a degree in Law from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich. In 2013, he was appointed as an honorary professor of Managerial Economics at the Technical University of Munich and has been the vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Munich and Upper Bavaria since 2016 as well as the vice president of German Raiffeisen Association since 2017.

Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board

Roland Dörig founded Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP) in 2014. He is one of two managing partners of EIP and a member of its investment committee. He also sits on several boards of directors of EIP portfolio companies.
Previously, he was a founding partner of The Advisory House, a strategy consultancy for the European energy sector. Prior to that, he worked at an international management consultancy, specializing in European utilities. During his time as a consultant, he gained extensive project expertise amongst others in corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and implementing energy trading and risk management.
Roland Dörig holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Applied Sciences, St. Gallen.

Member of the Supervisory Board

Andreas Helber has been CFO of BayWa AG since 2010. He also represents the company in management and supervisory bodies of international holdings.
He joined BayWa in 2000 as Head of Finance. Subsequently, he took over as Head of Investor Relations and was granted general power of attorney in 2007. Earlier, he worked as a business graduate at KPMG Deutsche-Treuhand-Gesellschaft AG in Munich. During this time, he was appointed tax consultant and auditor.
Andreas Helber holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Siegen.

Member of the Supervisory Board

Dr. Eveline Steinberger is a serial entrepreneur focusing on current high-tech trends such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain. She holds a Supervisory Board mandate with Unicredit Bank Austria as well as the Evergreen Private Foundation.
In 2014, she founded The Blue Minds Company GmbH, a venture capital and consultancy company focusing on global energy transformation. Since then, she has successfully invested in various companies, including the German solar glass manufacturer Interfloat Corporation, the Israeli software companies Cylus Ltd. (Rail Cybersecurity) and Foresight Energy Ltd. (AI Energy Platform), the leading platform for e-mobility in Europe. Prior to that, she spent 20 years in various senior management positions in the energy and infrastructure sector. Among others, she managed the (green) energy business of Siemens in Central Eastern Europe.
Dr. Eveline Steinberger earned her PhD diploma at the Karl-Franzens-University Graz in Economic Science and successfully completed an executive management study at INSEAD, France.

Member of the Supervisory Board

Martin Rey is member of the Supervisory Board at Nordex SE, as well as Chairman of the Supervisory board of clearvise AG (former: ABO Invest AG), and a member of the Supervisory Board, member of the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Credit Committee of the Supervisory Board of Kommunalkredit Austria AG, Austria. He also holds the position of Chairman of the Advisory Board of O2 Power Ltd. Singapore/Delhi, India, and serves on several other boards of international companies.
Earlier, he was member of the Group Executive Management Board at Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG, and worked in management positions at various international investment, consulting, as well as energy and infrastructure companies – e.g., Babcock & Brown (Australia), Knight Infrastructure B.V. (Netherlands) and Brisa AutoEstradas de Portugal.
Martin Rey studied Law at the University of Bonn and Business Administration at the University of Hagen.

Member of the Supervisory Board

Tim Marahrens is the Co-Head of Investments at Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP). He joined EIP shortly after it was founded in 2014. Since then, he has been responsible for many of EIP’s landmark transactions, particularly in the global renewables sector. This includes the successful acquisition and construction of the 1,000 MW wind park Fosen Wind, Europe’s largest onshore wind park. He also sits on several boards of directors of EIP portfolio companies.
Before joining EIP, he worked in investment banking in the power & utilities sector at UBS and Merrill Lynch, among others.
Tim Marahrens holds a dual master’s degree in Financial Mathematics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, and the University of Zurich.

Member of the Supervisory Board

BayWa AG’s additional representative is Marcus Pöllinger. Since joining the company in 2008, he has held various positions, including Head of the Building Materials Segment. He has been a member of the Board of Management of BayWa AG since 2018.
In this role, he is responsible for Agriculture, Building Materials, Energy, Corporate IT and Digital Farming Segments, among others. He will become CEO of BayWa AG in April 2023.

Member of the Supervisory Board

Dr. Suzanne Thoma has been Executive Chairman of Sulzer Ltd since 1st November 2022. Prior to that, she served as Sulzer Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 2022. She was CEO of the BKW Group until the end of June 2022. She led this company for nine and a half years, transforming it from a traditional Swiss utility into an international energy and infrastructure company.
After completing her studies and doctorate at the ETH, she began her career at Ciba Spezialitätenchemie AG, where she held various management positions in Switzerland and abroad. She then went on to lead a start-up specialising in high-tech materials and technology licensing, Rolic Technologies AG.
Suzanne Thoma is a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Venture Group, Vice-President of the "think tank" Avenir Suisse and was appointed Honorary Councillor of ETH Zurich last autumn.
