Two cars with one mission: to build the best solar car and compete with the best teams in Europe in the iLumen European Solar Challenge 2020 in Belgium!
For a long time, our sponsored Team Sonnenwagen had to wait due to the Corona regulations, but now it's official: The 24-hour solar race iLumen European solar Challenge is taking place!
As mentioned previously, the Team Sonnenwagen is taking part with two cars! One car was built for the World Solar Challenge in Australia 2017, which won the 3rd place at the iLumen Challenge 2018. The other one is a total new car that was used for the World Solar Challenge 2019 and it’s a total revised, new-shaped version of the one before.
Last week the team of students had some really successful test drives at the racetrack of the IKA, an institute of RWTH Aachen. Whereas the older model captivated with its ruggedness and endurance the new car stands up with its light weight, more efficient solar modules and a more powerful engine. Which car will perform better? We will see...
Here you can compare the two solar cars:

Do you want to watch the race? No problem! There will be a livestream on YouTube. The team has installed a camera in the Sonnenwagen for this purpose.
