A proactive approach to carbon and climate

As reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a priority, we regularly review emission reduction possibilities and reduction projects. Since 2020, all our offices, warehouses and IPP sites are 100% supplied with renewable electricity. All our scope 1, 2, and 3.6 (business travel) operative emissions from the years 2018 to 2023 were compensated by certified climate protection projects. 

As of 2024, we have moved away from carbon compensation and are transitioning to a climate contribution approach. This will be aligned with best practices for climate action and the Paris Agreement. 

Building for biodiversity

The impact our activities have on the natural environment is critically important. Years of study and experience have refined our processes, helping mitigate our projects’ impact on the living world. Our renewable energy plants integrate technologies which foster biodiversity, protecting and creating habitats for insects, birds, and animals. 

Based on our long years of experience and in partnership with nature conservation authorities, our wind and solar park designs minimise environmental impact. Where such impact is unavoidable, we provide compensation measures with the aim of proactively enhancing the environment. We also partner with associations such as SolarPower Europe and Eurelectric to develop sector guidance to reduce the impact of infrastructure projects on nature and share best practice nature-based solutions.

Occupational HSE is a key factor in our economic success. Therefore, we regard the respective legislation and supporting directives as minimum requirements, supplemented by internal guidelines. Our aim is to systematically and continuously improve Health, Safety and Environment protection.

Acceptance from local communities is a vital element of success for renewable energy projects. We emphasise the value of local knowledge, participation, and engagement. Our development process involves all stakeholders: from neighbours and local authorities to farmers and non-governmental organisations.
