Value-driven leadership on a positive mission

BayWa r.e. takes responsibility.

Compliance is an essential part of BayWa r.e.’s corporate culture and means adhering to applicable laws as well as our internal regulations and company’s values. This applies throughout the Group and constitutes the basis for our business activities and a crucial requirement for securing a long-term success of our company.

Our primary goal is to identify and minimize compliance risks and protect our company and its reputation, the Executive Board and all employees from inappropriate and illegal behavior. For this purpose, BayWa r.e. Group has implemented a Compliance Management System that provides instruments and measures to handle compliance risks.

This system is constructed from seven key elements.

  1. Compliance culture: Shaped by management’s behaviours and attitudes (“tone from the top”), culture influences the importance employees attach to compliance. A positive culture promotes voluntary compliance.

  2. Compliance objectives: The Compliance Management System is geared towards achieving defined outcomes. These align general corporate objectives with the rules and regulations we all need to abide by.

  3. Compliance risks: Compliance risks are systematically identified and analyzed regarding probability and potential damage.

  4. Compliance programme: Based on the assessment of compliance risks, principles and measures are implemented to limit risk, with clear definitions of what is and isn’t allowed.

  5. Compliance organisation: Compliance is an independent element of our corporate structure, with processes set to guide and complement management decisions. The Director of Legal & Compliance reports directly to the CRO of BayWa r.e. AG.

  6. Compliance communication: All employees are regularly informed about compliance through various communication channels. Compliance training is offered both online and face-to-face to meet the needs of different target groups.

  7. Compliance monitoring and improvement: The Compliance Management System is constantly evaluated to identify gaps and further improve the existing measures.
