BayWa r.e. is delighted to announce the appointment of Maria Röske as CEO of its Nordics projects business.

Maria will join the company in the coming months as CEO of BayWa r.e. Nordics AB and will be responsible for the management of the company’s existing wind and solar projects in Sweden, as well as overseeing its expansion plans into further Nordic markets.

Maria brings almost 20 years of experience in the renewable energy industry. Maria is currently Managing Director of wpd Scandinavia AB, a company working with all stages and aspects of planning and development of onshore wind farms in Sweden. Maria is also a Member of the Board of the Swedish Wind Energy Association.

Commenting on the appointment, Lorenzo Palombi, Director of Wind Projects EMEA at BayWa r.e., said: “Maria brings a wealth of experience to BayWa r.e. and we’re delighted to have her on board at such an important stage in the development of our Nordics business. Sweden is a key market for BayWa r.e. and Maria, together with Håkan Wallin from our Nordics Services business, will play a vital role in driving forward our ambitious expansion plans in the region. The focus will be on significantly growing our wind and solar projects pipeline, as well as bolstering our team to achieve this.”

BayWa r.e. is continuing to build a pipeline of several hundreds of megawatts in different stages of development in both wind and solar in Sweden. Recent success in the region includes the commissioning of its 94.6 MW Lyngsåsa wind farm in Southern Sweden, which is BayWa r.e.’s largest wind farm in Europe to date. This followed the sale of a second major project for BayWa r.e. in Southern Sweden, the 62 MW Furuby wind farm, which is now under construction.

Maria Röske added: “This month’s COP26 highlighted significant ambition in renewables deployment. However, we still have a long way to go if we are to avoid a catastrophic climate crisis, with every region in the world having a crucial role to play. BayWa r.e. is already making a significant contribution to Sweden’s energy transition and I’m excited to join the team as we continue to build on this and replicate success in additional Nordic markets, driving our commitment to a more sustainable future.”
