Campaigns against the European Commission’s extension of MIP
The European Commission in February 2017 indicated it would extend import tariffs on Chinese-produced solar modules and cells until September 2018, prompting outrage from some European developers and distributors desperate to end the curtailment in place since 2013.
BayWa r.e. renewable energy is one of the companies against the extension of the anti-dumping tariffs. Jochen Hauff, Head of Business Development, Energy Industry and Policy, told Clean Energy Pipeline:
“This is scandalous! At BayWa r.e., we have spent the last 18 months fighting for the removal of these duties, we think it’s harmful to the European solar sector that we are cut off and not allowed to buy high quality, yet very competitively priced technology from China which is where the largest PV factories in the world are located and also the most modern ones”.
