BayWa r.e. has completed two major rooftop PV installations in Venlo in the Netherlands, and Augsburg in Germany for global property developer Goodman.

A third installation is underway at a major logistics site in the Netherlands and due for completion in the last quarter of this year.

Goodman owns, develops, and manages modern industrial real estate including logistics facilities, warehouses and business parks in strategic locations throughout 17 countries. The group has over 380 properties worldwide, of which 120 in Continental Europe.

When fully operational, the three separate rooftop PV installations will generate a combined power of 3,36 GWh. The projects utilise the latest technology, which include Huawei Sun 2000-60 KTL inverters and BayWa r.e.’s own innovative Novotegra rooftop mounting system.

The three projects are part of Goodman’s sustainability strategy in Continental Europe. Marie Maggiordomo, Manager Strategy and Innovation at Goodman said: “In collaboration with BayWa r.e., we turned roof space into cutting edge PV systems. BayWa r.e. has expertly designed their installations into our new building schemes. Together, we are giving our customers the possibility to reduce their carbon footprint by using 100% renewable energy.”

Across the three buildings, over 1,750 tonnes of CO2 will be saved each year. Besides enabling the Goodman properties to locally produce sustainable energy, the PV installations also allow Goodman to reach higher levels of BREEAM certification.

Marie Maggiordomo adds: “We’re proud to develop future-proof properties. BayWa r.e. has been instrumental in helping us deploying CO2 neutral buildings that are part of our sustainability strategy. They guided us through the challenging PV legal framework in each country. Essentially, what BayWa r.e. has given us, is a blueprint that integrates renewable and future-proof properties.”

BayWa r.e. was appointed because of its track record and financial strength, together with its international footprint.

Andrea Grotzke, Global Director of Energy Solutions, BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH. said: “We’re helping more and more corporates transition to renewable energy. Many have set environmental targets regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adoption of renewable energy. The availability of highly sustainable spaces, like those provided by Goodman, is playing an integral part in helping many corporations to reach these goals and we’re very proud to be part of the solution.”

BayWa r.e. designed and installed the first two systems in just three months. Each comes with a production guarantee and ongoing operations maintenance provided by the BayWa r.e. services team.
