Victoria’s Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, the Hon. Lily D'Ambrosio MP, and Minister for Planning, the Hon. Richard Wynne, have officially opened BayWa r.e.’s new Australian office.

Located in Melbourne, the office will drive forward BayWa r.e.’s investment in the country’s renewable energy sector. It will be the base for its wind and solar projects businesses, while also supporting the solar distribution business which already has offices in Perth.

This new office represents the latest stage in BayWa r.e.’s expansion in Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region.

Daniel Gäfke, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Solar Pte Ltd., commented: “We are honoured to have Minister D’Ambrosio and Minister Wynne officially open our new office today. Australia is an important market for us and we are pleased to be supporting the country on its renewable energy journey.

“We entered the market here two years ago and this year are set to build over 132 MW of solar energy and 14 MW of wind energy to Australian homes and businesses. In addition, our solar distribution business is helping PV installers to deliver smaller-scale schemes across the country.”

Driven by the need to combat climate change and rising energy costs, businesses across Australia are taking steps to transition to renewable energy – something BayWa r.e. is helping them to achieve.

Benedikt Ortmann, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Solar Projects GmbH, added: “Australia is a growing market for us. Most recently, we have seen a rising number of Australia’s leading businesses start their renewable energy transition. A great example is Carlton & United Breweries. Supplied from our 112 MW Karadoc solar farm, we are helping CUB move towards its objective to secure 100 per cent of its energy from renewable sources.”

BayWa r.e. is a global renewable energy developer, service supplier, wholesaler and energy solutions provider. With offices in 20 countries around the world, the company has successfully brought more than 2,000 MW of renewable projects online and currently manages over 5,000 MW of global renewable energy assets for businesses and investors.
