Helping to make sustainable energy better for everyone

01—
Helping to make sustainable energy better for everyone

Whether it’s the food we eat, the energy we consume or the homes we live in, sustainability sits at the heart of our commitment to tomorrow’s generation. These are the pillars of our business and sustainability is at the heart of what we do.

The BayWa Foundation was founded in 1998 and promotes sustainable education projects in the areas of renewable energy, healthy nutrition and supporting talent.

The Foundation is special in that 100 percent of the donations go directly into the projects. BayWa AG, our parent company, covers all the administrative costs and matches every donation given.

02—
Far reaching benefits

It forms just part of our commitment to thinking and acting sustainability to benefit both society and the environment. And at BayWa r.e. is just one way we are helping to make renewable energy even better.

In Tanzania, we’re working in co-operation with the fantastic team at Engineers Without Borders to build biogas plants to help improve living conditions for the rural population. Instead of having to spend hours searching for wood for cooking fires, the biogas plants supply families with energy to light their homes and cook food.

This project is also conducted in partnership with students of the Hohenheim University, enabling them to experience cutting-edge renewable technologies, in a different cultural environment.

03—
A better quality of life

Back in Germany, we’re working with students from the University of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf and local trainees to develop a wind turbine that supplies part of the power consumed by the Elementary and Middle school in the town.

Research is undertaken by the students, integrating theory and practice, with ongoing evaluation of measured data with our engineers. It gives the students first-hand experience in rethinking energy and the opportunity to practice with new technologies.

Nationally and internationally, our foundation is committed to forward-looking projects with the goal to better the quality of life, especially for disadvantaged people. Education is the key to a more sustainable future and by working together to improve education for all, we can all help to make renewable energy even better for everyone.
