A blueprint for renewable energy

Setting the scene

Across the globe, corporations are transitioning to renewable energy, many with the goal to become 100 percent renewable.

One company helping many Fortune100 and RE100 companies on their journey is property developer Goodman. Goodman owns, develops, and manages modern logistics facilities, warehouses and business parks. The group has over 394 properties worldwide, of which 132 in Continental Europe.

BayWa r.e. has completed three major rooftop PV installations for Goodman, with more coming through, as part of a roll-out blueprint.

Meeting the challenge

The three projects form part of Goodman’s sustainability strategy in Continental Europe. Each PV installation generates more power than is consumed on site.

BayWa r.e. was appointed because of its expertise and successful track record in supporting businesses on their renewable transition, together with its international footprint.

Our expert team guided Goodman through the challenging legal framework in each country. Each system was designed to deliver maximum power for Goodman. The two projects at Venlo and Oosterhout, in the Netherlands, and the third at Augsburg, Germany, are now generating a combined power of 3,36 GWh.

Our world class operations services team, one of the first to achieve SolarPower Europe’s Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Best Practices Mark, is now making sure each system continues to operate at peak efficiency.

Getting the result

Across the three buildings, over 1,750 tonnes of CO2 will be saved each year. Roof space which would otherwise be empty is now producing reliable green power.

Besides enabling the Goodman properties to locally produce sustainable energy, the PV installations also allow Goodman to reach higher levels of BREEAM certification - the highest accolade in sustainable buildings.

The three projects now form a blueprint for a wider rollout for Goodman as part of its progressive sustainability plan to make its real estate more and more sustainable.  And we are proud to be on this journey with them!

In collaboration with BayWa r.e., we turned roof space into cutting edge PV systems. BayWa r.e. has expertly designed their installations into our new building schemes. Together, we are giving our customers the possibility to reduce their carbon footprint by using 100% renewable energy.
