r.e.sponsible partnership – creating long term relationships

Responsible partnership - creating long-term relationships

At BayWa r.e. we’re helping develop and deliver sustainable green energy to businesses and homes throughout California. We’re also taking our commitment to make sustainable energy even better by directly giving back to communities where we work.

Through BayWa r.e.’s Giving Programme in the Americas, we are working with charities and organisations to help educate and inform communities about the benefits of renewable energy and its role in ensuring a sustainable future.

Going the extra mile

A great example of our work is a solar project with the All Tribes Charter School in San Diego, CA. The school was set up in 2006 by two pioneering educators to address the cultural and socio-economic challenges faced by Native American students. Years of hard work is paying off and last year graduation rates soared. The California Department of State Education has also recognised their outstanding hard work and commitment.

We wanted to help support the school too, so we developed and installed a 25 kW rooftop solar system to provide sustainable green energy and reduce the school’s energy costs.

We also wanted to directly help support the students’ education, so we created STEM-focused renewable energy materials for teachers to use to bring the science and engineering that sits behind our renewable solutions to life. The materials are proving a great success with students and, if they want to see theory in practice, they just need to look up!

Another project we love is at the Valley Center Community Hall in San Diego. Here, we’ve installed a ground mounted 5 kW solar system to help the Parks and Recreation Department to develop its sustainable energy resources. We’ve also taught staff how the system works and signposting gives visitors an insight into how renewable energy is helping to make energy better.

Making a difference

With the twin aims of offsetting energy costs for organisations and charities that need it most, and promoting education around sustainability and the environment, our US Giving Initiative is making a real difference in helping communities to r.e. think energy.
