Energy trading

Convenient, secure and no additional effort

Trading and optimising energy successfully

For many system operators, selling renewable energy directly to large electricity consumers is an interesting alternative to conventional feed-in under the terms of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act. It generates additional revenue and adds value to the plant.

The energy trading principle also helps to better integrate renewables into the electricity market. In particular, the inclusion of controllable technologies (e.g. biogas, geothermal and hydropower plants) makes a valuable contribution to grid stability.

Our virtual power plant plays a key role in this, allowing us to link many decentralised producers with our buyers, independently of location. This results in capacities that are comparable to real power plants.

BayWa r.e. supports system operators of all types of renewable energy in structuring and successfully trading their electricity on energy exchanges.

On-site power consumption

More and more companies and interest groups are using green electricity they have produced themselves to achieve independence from energy market trends. BayWa r.e. offers customised concepts to assist with this. Depending on the situation, this may involve on-site provision by means of local area grids or models that make use of public grids.

Balancing energy trading of bio-energy

We handle all of the operations necessary to ensure long term success on the balancing energy market. For example, this includes assistance at the prequalification stage, joint development of a bidding strategy and structuring the tendering processes with transmission system operators. Via our virtual power plant, we control feed-in according to grid demand. This allows system operators to benefit from attractive additional revenue.

Convert your photovoltaic plant now and reap the benefits

The revised 2014 Renewable Energy Sources Act makes energy trading obligatory for new plants larger than 500 kWp. With this provision the state is encouraging the integration of renewables into the energy market. It has also introduced an incentive for energy trading for conversions of existing plants: the Renewable Energy Sources Act provides for an increase of 0.4 cents per kWh in the rate for such cases.

The low starting investments required by such conversion provide payback within just a few years and guarantee stable and reliable returns over the long term. We ensure the conversion of your photovoltaic plant is expertly handled and, if you wish, also trade the electricity it generates on your behalf.
