BayWa r.e. sells two wind farms in Bavaria and Rhineland-Palatinate
In August, BayWa r.e. sold two wind farms with a total output of 9.4 MW to two asset managers. The company will continue to manage the technical operations and energy trading aspects.
This year, BayWa r.e. has already implemented around 220 MW of wind power globally. Further projects in Germany and Europe will be completed during the course of the year. Matthias Taft, Chairman of the Management Board of BayWa r.e. and BayWa AG board member for the energy division, commented: "The wind farms which have recently been sold are among our smaller projects. They show that such plants also represent an attractive investment opportunity and are part of our concept of being a comprehensive full service provider: We implement projects of all sizes and categories and our success to date confirms this strategy."
The Guggenberg wind farm (4.8 MW) is located in the Miltenberg district of Bavaria, on the border with Baden-Wuerttemberg. The two Nordex N117 turbines have a hub height of 140 metres and have been specially designed for onshore sites with lower levels of wind. The Trierweiler wind farm has an output of 4.6 MW and consists of two Enercon E82 turbines and is situated in the Trier-Saarburg district of Rhineland-Palatinate, close to the border with Luxembourg. For both projects, mostly local companies were commissioned. This meant that a large part of the value creation remained within the region.
