“BayWa Ökostrom” and “BayWa Ökogas”: BayWa r.e. passes on price reduction to end customers
Due to lower purchase costs and reduced EEG (German Renewable Energy Act) apportionment, BayWa r.e. is reducing prices for “BayWa Ökostrom” and “BayWa Ökogas” products for the majority of its customers in 2015. The impact of the price change will depend on network charges in each individual case.
The EEG apportionment for 2014 showed a positive balance for the first time since it was introduced. This was already announced in mid October of last year by the Federal Network Agency and the transmission system operators. The EEG apportionment fell at the start of 2015 from 6.24 to 6.17 ct/kWh. This reduction, plus any other adjustments to statutory control and charges, gives a total net reduction in electricity prices of 0.153 ct/kWh. This saving and the lower purchase costs are being passed on to “BayWa Ökoenergie” customers.
Since the trend of falling electricity prices started to emerge, consumer protection groups have been demanding that this should also be reflected in the final consumer's electricity bills in 2015. Matthias Taft, Chairman of the BayWa r.e. Management Board, summed it up: "We are delighted to be able to reduce the cost of electricity for the majority of our customers – combined with the certainty that with “BayWa Ökoenergie” products, we are able to satisfy any sustainability and quality requirements."
“BayWa Ökoenergie” products have already won many awards. Just a few weeks ago, the BayWa r.e. Group was one of the first three companies to be presented with the new "Pioneer of the Energy Revolution" certificate by TÜV SÜD. This quality mark rewards outstanding commitment to the energy revolution. As in the previous year, “BayWa Ökostrom” was once again rated as "very good" by the consumer review group Stiftung Öko-Test. “BayWa Ökoenergie” secured one of the top spots among the 30 tested electricity products, mainly due to its customer-friendly service, reasonable prices and twelve months price guarantee.
