Anyone wanting to optimise the energy mix of their own building can make use of an innovative offering from BayWa r.e. and Energie Südbayern: solar power systems for detached and two-family homes are now available for lease.

Günter Haug, Managing Director of BayWa r.e., explains: "We are a company with cooperative roots, so we are pleased to be able to keep up this tradition by helping homeowners become power generators. Our work together with regional specialist contractors underscores our sustainable, local approach to the energy transition." Only systems with a peak capacity of up to 10 kilowatts are used in our leasing model, which means that their on-site power consumption is exempt from the EEG surcharge. Individuals lease the solar power system and pay a fixed monthly fee to Energie Südbayern.

The contract has a term of 18 years. The solar power generated by the system is primarily used in the lessee's household. Surplus power is exported into the grid and compensated in line with the remuneration rate stipulated in the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). If additional power is required, it is supplied by Energie Südbayern.

"It is definitely worth installing a photovoltaic system on your roof", added Jürgen Hitz, Department Head of Trading and Sales at Energie Südbayern. "This model provides an interesting option for private households in terms of electricity supply and energy efficiency." As a lessor of solar PV systems, Energie Südbayern handles the financing and implementation of rooftop systems, while BayWa r.e. selects the technical components, all of which come from well-known, high-quality manufacturers. Specialist regional contractors and the BayWa r.e. partner network ensure expert installation of the solar power system.

The new joint website allows prospective customers to create an initial yield forecast and check whether their building is suitable for a solar power system.
